In short
In Mallorca, a 30-year-old pays €69.41 a month for Sanitas Más Salud with the medium copay, or €103.07 with no copay. At 60 it's €167.81 and €202.55. These are first-year premiums from the Sanitas rate card for policies starting by 31 December 2026, including the Consorcio surcharge.
I'm an exclusive Sanitas agent, so don't expect a comparison of insurers here. What you get instead is what Sanitas costs in Mallorca at your age, on the island's own rate (not the one in the adverts). Every figure on this page is worked out from the April 2026 rate card by age, plan and number of people on the policy.
How much does Sanitas Más Salud cost in Mallorca by age?
One person on their own pays between €45.76 a month (ages 3 to 15, medium copay) and €262.37 (age 75, no copay) for Sanitas Más Salud in Mallorca. Between 30 and 50, the medium-copay premium rises from €69.41 to €98.28 a month.

Más Salud is Sanitas' full-cover policy: GP, specialists, emergencies, diagnostic tests, surgery and hospital stays, plus dental (over 30 services) and video consultations. You can take it out up to age 75, and there's no age at which it ends.
All three columns cover the same things. What changes is what you pay each time you use the insurance. With the medium copay (Óptima) you pay €4 per service for your first three of the year, €7 from the fourth to the tenth, €10 from the 11th to the 15th and €15 after that; an emergency visit is €8 and a complex test €12. With the low copay (Plus), your first six services each year are free and copays are capped at €360 a year per person. With no copay, you pay nothing when you use it.
Look at the row for 60. On this rate card it's the steepest step: the medium-copay premium jumps from €123.19 to €167.81 a month. If your birthday is close, the start date matters.
How much do you save by putting your partner or family on one policy?
With Más Salud, each person pays 7% less on a policy of two or three people, and 17% less with four or more. A 42-year-old on the medium copay goes from €76.02 a month alone to €70.40 as a couple and €63.35 on a policy of four.
| Age | On their own | Policy of 2 or 3 | Policy of 4 or more |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | €77.30 | €71.57 | €64.41 |
| 3–15 | €45.76 | €42.37 | €38.14 |
| 16–19 | €50.98 | €47.20 | €42.48 |
| 20–24 | €64.21 | €59.45 | €53.50 |
| 25–29 | €65.47 | €60.62 | €54.56 |
| 30–34 | €69.41 | €64.28 | €57.85 |

| 70–74 | €221.59 | €205.18 | €184.66 |
| 75 | €225.54 | €208.83 | €187.95 |
| Compared with one person alone | — | −7% | −17% |
Everyone on the policy counts, children included. The two-to-three bracket has an odd effect: a third person doesn't make the other two cheaper, but a fourth makes everyone cheaper. A family aged 40, 38 and 8 that adds a five-year-old pays only €20.07 a month more on the medium copay, because all four move down a table.
If you pay the whole year in one go, Sanitas currently takes 4% off Más Salud. That's a promotion (checked on 28 September 2026), so it isn't in the tables.
What does a typical family pay per month in Mallorca?
A couple aged 42 and 40 pays €140.80 a month for Más Salud with the medium copay, or €200.34 with no copay. Add two children aged 10 and 7 and the whole family pays €202.98 on the medium copay, €248.74 on the low copay and €307.58 with no copay.
| Household | Medium copay (Óptima) | Low copay (Plus) | No copay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person aged 30 | €69.41 | €82.50 | €103.07 |
| 1 person aged 45 | €87.72 | €102.21 | €119.62 |
| 2 people aged 42 and 40 | €140.80 | €167.40 | €200.34 |
| 2 people aged 62 and 60 | €310.76 | €330.08 | €375.10 |
| 3 people aged 40, 38 and 8 | €180.69 | €217.07 | €267.46 |
| 4 people aged 40, 38, 8 and 5 | €200.76 | €244.41 | €304.36 |
| 4 people aged 42, 40, 10 and 7 | €202.98 | €248.74 | €307.58 |
Find the row closest to your household. If it isn't there, look first at the ages of the oldest people on the policy, because that's what moves the premium most: the couple aged 62 and 60 pays more than the family of four, since both are in the 60 to 64 band.
How much does Sanitas Único cost for over-60s?
Sanitas Único costs €54.86 a month per person in Mallorca from 60 to 64, €60.90 from 65 to 74 and €69.80 from 75 to 85. There's no health questionnaire and no upper age limit for joining, and a couple aged 67 and 65 pays €121.80 a month for both.
| Age | Único | Más Salud · Medium copay (Óptima) | Más Salud · No copay |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 | €54.86 | €167.81 | €202.55 |
| 65 | €60.90 | €194.01 | €231.78 |
| 70 | €60.90 | €221.59 | €252.17 |
| 75 | €69.80 | €225.54 | €262.37 |
| 80 | €69.80 | not open to new members | not open to new members |
| 90 | €82.68 | not open to new members | not open to new members |
At 70, Único costs €60.90 and Más Salud with the medium copay €221.59. That's a big gap, and you should know what sits behind it before you sign: hospital stays and surgery are not listed in Único's published cover. It does include GP and all specialists, the most common scans (MRI, CT and ultrasound, with a six-month wait for MRI and CT), basic dental, video consultations and home services.
Único's copay rises with use: nothing for your first six services of the year, €5 from the seventh to the 15th and €10 from the 16th. Diagnostic tests cost €12 and emergency visits €8.
What if I need the insurance for a visa or residency?
For a visa or residence application, Sanitas has Residents for visas: no copays, no waiting periods, repatriation included. In Mallorca a 40-year-old pays the equivalent of €132.32 a month, billed as €793.92 every six months, and new policies are only accepted up to age 64.
| Age | Residents | Residents for visas (monthly equivalent) | Visa policy: six-monthly bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | €116.13 | €136.89 | €821.34 |
| 3–15 | €80.45 | €94.59 | €567.54 |
| 16–19 | €84.31 | €99.16 | €594.96 |
| 20–24 | €99.60 | €117.29 | €703.74 |
| 25–29 | €103.32 | €121.70 | €730.20 |
| 30–34 | €107.18 | €126.27 | €757.62 |
| 35–39 | €108.42 | €127.75 | €766.50 |
| 40–44 | €112.28 | €132.32 | €793.92 |
| 45–49 | €123.73 | €145.87 | €875.22 |
| 50–54 | €132.68 | €156.48 | €938.88 |
| 55–59 | €162.02 | €191.27 | €1,147.62 |
| 60–64 | €206.66 | €244.17 | €1,465.02 |
Residents for visas is for nationals from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, with one exception: EU citizens who need the residence registration certificate (EX-18) can take it too. It's billed only every six months or yearly, with no discount for paying yearly, and Sanitas emails the certificate for your visa as soon as the policy is set up.
Whatever your nationality, a travel policy won't do for a residence permit, however high its medical limit; if you're searching in Russian for cover for a ВНЖ, the same rule applies. And if you're an EU pensioner with an S1 form registered with Spain's social security, you're entitled to public healthcare and don't need private cover for residency.
Plain Residents, without "for visas", also has no copays but does have waiting periods (10 months for hospital stays and 8 for childbirth, for example). Any nationality can take it, and you can pay monthly.
Watch out
The rate card shows bands up to 75, but those are for existing members: new policies stop at 64. One of Sanitas' sales documents says 75, and I'm confirming it. Until I have, I work to 64 here.
Why is Sanitas more expensive in Mallorca than on the mainland?
Sanitas prices by area, and Mallorca has its own column on the rate card: the same Más Salud policy with the medium copay costs 17.5% more here than on the general rate, and Único 13.9% more. The "from" prices on sanitas.es use that general rate, so your premium in Mallorca will be higher than what you see there.
| Product and reference age | Mallorca | General rate | Mallorca costs more by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Más Salud medium copay, age 40 | €76.02 | €64.68 | +17.5% |
| Más Salud low copay, age 40 | €90.40 | €76.91 | +17.5% |
| Más Salud no copay, age 40 | €108.18 | €94.10 | +15% |
| Único, age 65 | €60.90 | €53.48 | +13.9% |
| Residents, age 40 | €112.28 | €97.67 | +15% |
| Residents for visas, age 40 | €132.32 | €115.09 | +15% |
This is probably the misunderstanding I see most. Someone finds a price on the Sanitas website, asks for theirs and gets a different number. Both are right; they belong to different areas. Ibiza and Formentera have their own rate, which is higher again (around 70% above Mallorca for Residents for visas).
How do you read these price tables?
Each figure is the first-year monthly premium for one person joining in Mallorca, worked out from the April 2026 Sanitas rate card with the 0.15% surcharge of the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (Spain's insurance compensation fund) already added. What counts is each person's age when they join and how many people are on the policy.
The rate card applies to policies starting by 31 December 2026. If your new policy starts on 1 January 2027, the 2027 rate card applies, and Sanitas hasn't published it yet; when it does, this page is recalculated.
Prices can change at renewal. Spanish law requires the insurer to tell you about any change to the contract, price included, at least two months before the renewal date (article 22 of the Insurance Contract Act, Ley 50/1980).
No figure is final until Sanitas accepts the application, because it first reviews the health questionnaire (for Más Salud and Residents for visas) and each person's details. How I calculate and update prices is on the transparency page. Buying through me doesn't change the premium: it's the rate-card price, and Sanitas pays my commission.
How many people have private health insurance in the Balearic Islands?
In the Balearic Islands, 30.1% of people have private health insurance, against a Spanish average of 26.2%, according to the IDIS 2026 report on 2025 data. Spain as a whole has 12.8 million people insured, and premiums came to €13.312 billion, up 11.5% on the year before.
Key fact
Three in ten people on the islands pay for private cover on top of the public system. That's more than in Spain overall, and premiums keep rising, so each renewal is worth a comparison.
Which plan would I choose in your situation?
If you're under 45 and rarely see a doctor, I'd pick Más Salud with the medium copay: it's the lowest premium and the copays are small. With young children, the low copay. From 60, Más Salud if you can pass the health questionnaire and want hospital cover; otherwise Único.
Here's the reasoning for each, including what you give up.
At 35, the medium copay saves you €141.84 a year against the low copay. In exchange, each visit costs between €4 and €15. Use it rarely and you come out ahead. Use it a lot and the sums flip, and where exactly depends on which services you use, so I won't give you a magic number.
Children's visits to the paediatrician add up fast, which is where the low copay makes sense: the first six services each year are free for each person, and the €360 annual cap limits a bad year. For the family aged 42, 40, 10 and 7, it costs €549.12 a year more than the medium copay. That's the price of no surprises.
No copay suits people who'd rather not think about each visit and can carry the highest premium. It's the most expensive of the three at every age.
Between 60 and 75 the choice changes. Más Salud covers hospital stays and surgery, but it has a health questionnaire, and at 67 it costs €194.01 a month on the medium copay. Único costs €60.90, has no questionnaire and leaves out what isn't listed in its cover. I'd look at Más Salud first while you can still take it out, and at Único when the questionnaire is a problem or the premium doesn't fit the budget. From 76, of everything on this page only Único is left.
If you need the policy for a visa, there's no choice to make: Residents for visas, up to 64.
And if you're already insured with another company in Spain, price is only half the story. Before comparing, check when your policy renews and which waiting periods you'd skip by switching; that's all in the guide to switching health insurance in Spain.
Find the row in the tables that looks most like your household and note the plan that fits. With that figure in front of you, your current insurer's renewal letter reads very differently.
